Linda Melvern ‘The Role of the West in the Rwandan Genocide,’ 12th March

Linda comes to speak to the Forum on the eve of the 15th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide, in association with Zed books. Linda is the author of ‘A People Betrayed’ which discusses the complicity of the UN, French forces and the international community in the horrific episode. At a time when Rwanda has recently indicted France for its alleged support for Hutu militia, the FDLR and Tutsi forces are at war in the DRC and some of the highest ranking genocidaires enjoy asylum in European countries, causal factors and lingering effects of the genocide are still very much at the forefront of International Affairs 15 years on.
